But if we are honest with ourselves and ourEveryday work of a detailed examinationWe will find that theEnergy robbers also in the numerous distractionsto which we are subjected during working hoursor to which we submit ourselves. And since we arei‑pointing curious about efficient workWe had at our lasti-worx dayOne in SeptemberWorkshop on “Deep Work”.

Definition of “Deep Work”

The term “deep work” means astate of highest concentration, which allows us to be without distractionsAll around us, completely immersed in our work and working not only fast, but also high quality. The term was used byComputer Scientist Cal NewportIt is written in his book,Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World‘ heSimple and applicable techniques and methodspresents how we can (and should) optimize our work processes. “Deep Work” vs. “Shallow Work”

As already defined, “Deep Work” meansDeep work. In return, there is the so-called “Shallow Work”= superficial work. The latter include activities “around work” such as theAnswering emails, coordinating projects and organizing meetings. These tasks are indispensable for everyday work. However, they shouldLittle time spentget done so that more time forqualitative workremains.

“Deep work” in practice

In ourWorkshop we have tips and methodsLearned how to “Deep Work” inEveryday work of our agency for applicationcan bring. After all, many things sound very good in theory, but are hardly implementable in practice or require a high degree of effort. Not so“Deep work” methods. We present you here4 tipswhich are easy to integrate into everyday work:

1. Work environment without distractions

We live in a time ofConstant accessibility and constant notifications, which constantly jump to us on several channels. In order to be able to dive into deep work, one shouldEliminate distractions as much as possible. In other words, allTurn off notifications, put away the phone, have only Internet browsers necessary for work open. Jump back and forth between several tasks, this creates a so-calledAttention residuewhere it can take up to 20 minutes to get back into the flow.

For our employees: inside means to get out of unnecessary team channelspull it out or mute it. We already haveMeasures taken in this regard and use now only one channelin which for allImportant informationshared. This does not mean that we do not send funny pictures in between or take a coffee break together. We just know exactly when to do it.

2. Creating time windows

It makes sense toWorkflows in time windowssubdivided. Think about when you are most productive. The greatest attention spans arein the morning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and in the afternoon between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.. If you know when your attention starts to take off, you can use this time for superficial work.

Tip: The ‘Pomodoro method‘. In this method invented by the Italian entrepreneur Francesco Cirillo, one shares theWorking time in 25-minute segments (“Pomodori”)one which is from5-minute breaksinterrupted. After about4 “Pomodori” you make a 15-20 minutePause.

3. Training for concentration

The best way to make hisConcentration ability to trainis – You guessed it: “Deep Work”. In the world of Instagram, TikTok and othersSocial Media Time EatersAre we not used to it,Just doing nothing or not constantly dealing with the outside world. This is why it is all the more important for the brain to eitherValuable informationTo deliver, as with theReading booksOr the brain.Regular breaksTo treat them, for example, withMeditation.

4. “Deep” instead of “Shallow Work”

Prioritize deep workagainst the superficial activities.Create time windows for your highly focused tasksAnd stick to it. Do not jump between the two, because yourAttention has a limit. Prioritize and ask yourself “What is more important to me?” “What tasks are worth it that I actually focus on them and deliver a high-quality result?”

“Deep Work” can be learned and is aQuestion of habit. We are all creatures of habit and are unlikely to adapt quickly to new events. TheMethods for “Deep Work” in everyday workTo integrate also means, of course, hisIdentify habits.

Be youAttentive and honestwith itself. We all like to indulge in daily distractions. But at the end of the day, we don’t have to be energyless and drained. If weproperly prioritize and our (also limited) time effectively and meaningfullyWe can use it with theFeelings of satisfaction after a working dayGo home or on the couch.
