PowerPoint file formats at a glance

/PPT (PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentations)
TheThe “in-house” file format PPT stands for presentations made with PowerPoint versions from 1997 to 2003be created. Depending on the program version, PPT files can be encrypted with a password.

/PPTX (PowerPoint Presentations 2007 and later)
This abbreviation stands for presentations created with PowerPoint 2007. These areby default Office Open XML file formats. You can also use onepasswordbe activated.

Template formats

/POT (PowerPoint 97-2003 design template)

This format is aself-starting slide presentation. When you start the file with a double click, the appearsContent instantly in full-screen presentation modeinstead of in the PowerPoint editor view. You can use these filesusually with both the free PowerPoint viewer and the full version of PowerPointreproduce.

/PPSX (PowerPoint 2007 slide show)
PPSX files areself-starting slide presentations (PowerPoint Show 2007). When starting the file with aWhen you double-click, the content immediately appears in full-screen presentation mode instead of in the PowerPoint editor view. These files can usually be accessed with bothfree PowerPoint Viewer as well as with PowerPointFull versionreproduce.

/PPSM (PowerPoint Slide Shows with Macros)
These formats areself-starting slide presentations that have pre-approved macrosincluded and thecreated and saved by users themselvescan be. PPSM files appearafter starting immediately in full screen mode and can be used in the free PowerPoint viewer and also in PowerPoint full versionsbe played back.
