Die richtigen Farben für Ihr Präsentationsdesign

Colors, like features, follow shifts in emotion.

Just in time forInternational Colour Day, held annually on March 21 since 2009,our latest blog post explorescolors and how they can be used in PowerPoint presentationseffectively.

Colors influence the psyche, trigger emotions and encourage us to buy a product, trust a brand or not.

Color theory is much more than just “pink is a pretty color”.Companies want to build a strong emotional connectionwith their customers. While they cannottell their entire corporate story through a logoor on social media (who would read all that?),colors speak directlyto customers’ hearts.

Color theory in a nutshell

People decidein less than 90 secondswhether they like a product or not. 90% of this decision is based solely on color. So it also makes sense that there is an essential onePart of the branding on the color selectionconcentrated.

Without delving into all ofColor theoryin detail(it is an entire science), suffice it to say that color theory organizescolors into systems. It explains how people perceive color and howColors mix, match or contrast with each other. It also examines the subtle, often cultural messages conveyed by colors – theirmeanings, and the methods used to reproduce colors.

Colors and their meaning for corporate branding

Colors play a major role in building abrand with purpose. They evokeEmotions and feelings and they often trigger memoriesof important moments in people's lives.

We all know thatemotions are incredibly powerfuland can guide decisions. Think of thecolor red and a particular beverage brand, right? Or thecolor blue and a major online messaging service. Terms like “recognition" and "familiarity“An immense role.

Questions to ask when developing aCorporate color design:

/ What kind ofservice or productis it?
/Whatdoes this product stand for?
/ Whichaudienceshould it address?
/ Whichcultural groupdoes the audience belong to?

How we use colors specifically in PowerPoint presentations

As an agency with decades of experience in the PowerPoint sectorand presentation design, we at i‑pointing closely examine thefundamentals of color and its effectson the mind. Colors influence us subtly and unconsciously, which is precisely why they matter. As people and consumers, wenotice colors everywhere, and in detail.

PowerPoint presentations withmore than 3 colors(with white, gray and black treated as neutrals that can always be added) are often too colorful, which can appear childish. Of course, it always depends onthe purpose and target group of a presentation. The key in presentation design is for the content to be taken seriously and for the presenter not to losecredibility and authority.

Colorful slides workonly if the company already has a colorful logo and wants to use it to signal “TheUse of our products“It’s child’s play and here users can live out their urge to play.”

Of course, we can't go into detail at this point about how our graphic artists and designers workmagic in PowerPoint. But this much we can say: theperfect mix of elements– colors, contrasts and content – makes ourpresentations truly stand outfor our customers.

We wish you acolorful International Color Day!
